The power of Tag Managers

Deploy iPerceptions using a tag manager

Two years ago I had never heard of a “Tag Manager”. I had worked quite a bit with Content Management Systems, but had not been exposed to the need of a dedicated system for the JavaScript tags on a site.  Over the past year I’ve worked with more and more clients who have chosen to place iperceptions’ survey script inside a Tag Management System.  Now one of the first questions I ask any new client is, “Do you plan to use a Tag Manager to deploy iperceptions?”

As a Software Engineer developing website code and, more recently, assisting our clients with implementation, I have witnessed firsthand how quickly it can be to deploy iperceptions’ solution with clients that have an existing Tag Manager setup.

Tag Managers also help to ensure that iperceptions is being offered to the right visitors.  With large sites having thousands or even millions of URLs across different brands, languages, and target audiences, it can be an incredible challenge to ensure that the right visitors are being invited to leave their feedback.

With the built-in conditional logic provided by Tag Managers and merging this with the powerful iperceptions Active Research Platform it becomes easy to target a specific sample of your visitors to get focused feedback.  The Tag Managers can deploy the iperceptions tag based on the current URL, time of day, physical location, site section, and other site behavior.  This means that you can provide different surveys to visitors from different countries, or run a short survey to evaluate the effectiveness of a marketing campaign or particular referral source, all without having to write a single line of JavaScript.

That’s why I’m pleased to announce that we have a fully integrated setup with Ensighten.

All you need to do is to choose iperceptions from the Apps section of Ensighten, and the Ensighten wizard will prompt you for your survey’s ID and language, and the deployment conditions for the survey.

Example of the fully integrated setup with Ensighten

If you’re using a different Tag Manager, I strongly recommend that you place the iperceptions tag as a custom JavaScript tag.  All of our solutions can be implemented through a Tag Manager that supports custom JavaScript tags.
